Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Author Guidelines
1. Originality and Exclusivity
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Noncompliance with this requirement will result in immediate rejection.

2. Formatting Requirements
All manuscripts must adhere to the following:

File format: .doc, .docx, or .odt.

Font: Times New Roman, size 12.

Spacing: 1.5.

Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.

Length: between 4,000 and 9,000 words, including references.

Abstract: 100 to 250 words in at least two languages, one of which must be English.

Keywords: 3 to 5, separated by semicolons.

References: must follow either ABNT (NBR 10520) or Chicago Author-Date style consistently throughout the manuscript.

ABNT example:
FOUCAULT, Michel. A ordem do discurso. São Paulo: Loyola, 1996.

Chicago example:
Foucault, Michel. 1996. A ordem do discurso. São Paulo: Loyola.

3. Language and Editorial Quality
Manuscripts must be linguistically revised prior to submission. Use of generative AI tools is allowed as support, but must be disclosed in a footnote or acknowledgments section, if applicable. Full responsibility remains with the authors.

4. Author Identification
Upon submission, all authors must provide:

Full name;

Institutional affiliation;

ORCID;

Short biography (max. 500 characters);

Institutional email address.

The main manuscript file must be anonymized, with no identifying information, to ensure blind peer review.

5. Ethical Considerations
Research involving human participants, communities, or sensitive data must include approval by an ethics committee or an equivalent institutional statement. Authors must obtain permission to publish any images, excerpts, datasets, or documents included in their submission.

Submission Checklist

 The manuscript meets all requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

 The submission is original and not under review elsewhere.

 All references are complete and consistently formatted.

 Tables, graphs, and figures are properly numbered and captioned.

 Permissions have been obtained for all third-party material included.

 The manuscript file is anonymized for peer review.

Articles Section
This is the journal’s main section, publishing original and peer-reviewed philosophical articles, essays, and theoretical or experimental texts with strong conceptual rigor and critical contribution to contemporary debates.

Privacy Statement
Names, email addresses, and personal data provided through this site will be used exclusively for editorial purposes and will not be shared with third parties. We comply with international data protection standards, including the Brazilian LGPD.

Archiving and Digital Preservation
Virtualia Journal is in the process of integration into LOCKSS and CLOCKSS digital preservation systems. Additionally, selected works may be timestamped and archived on public blockchains, with author consent, as part of our commitment to decentralized knowledge.

Publishing Platform
This journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS), developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). The technical infrastructure is maintained independently by academic volunteers and editors committed to open access and editorial autonomy.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

    Submission Preparation Checklist
    As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm that their submission meets all of the following criteria. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

     This submission complies with the formatting and style guidelines outlined in the Author Guidelines section.

     The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal.

     The manuscript file has been anonymized, with no identifying author information, to ensure blind peer review.

     All citations and references have been checked for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, and follow either ABNT (NBR 10520) or Chicago Author-Date style throughout the document.

     All tables, figures, images, and graphs are clearly labeled, numbered sequentially, and referenced within the text.

     Permissions have been obtained for all third-party materials included in the manuscript (e.g., images, data, excerpts).

     If applicable, ethical approval has been obtained from a relevant committee, and this is clearly stated in the manuscript.

     A title, abstract, and keywords have been provided in at least two languages, one of which is English.

     All authors' metadata (name, institutional affiliation, ORCID, institutional email, and short bio) are fully completed in the online submission system.

    By checking each box, authors confirm that they understand and meet the journal’s expectations for scholarly integrity, originality, and transparency.
